On December 6, 2025, the donation ceremony for the “Polymer Materials Research Fund,” jointly established by Damao Niu New Materials Group and Renmin University of China, was held at Renmin University.
The establishment of this fund marks the entry of the bilateral cooperation in the field of green new materials—spanning industry, academia, and research—into a new phase.
This donation embodies the shared commitment of both the university and the enterprise to the field of green new materials, their concerted pursuit of deep integration among industry, academia, and research, and their sense of responsibility in supporting the nation’s strategy for becoming a global leader in new materials and achieving the “dual carbon” goals. It also brings together the wisdom and consensus of the core strengths from both the university and the enterprise.
Wang Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Renmin University of China; Zhao Xiao, Secretary-General of the Education Foundation; Wang Yapei, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Development and Dean of the College of Chemistry and Life Resources; Jia Junxue, Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Sciences; Gong Xinqi, Deputy Director of the Institute; and Bai Peng, Chairman of Jiangsu Damao Niu New Materials Co., Ltd.; Zhang Yuanting, General Manager; and Cheng Junjie, a shareholder, all attended the event together.
The donation ceremony was chaired by Jia Junxue, Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies at Renmin University of China, Director of the Office of Development Planning, and Director of the Office for Discipline Development.

Wang Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Renmin University of China, presented a donation certificate to Zhang Yuanting, General Manager of Damao Niu New Materials Group, and also presented a special commemorative gift that embodies the university’s historical legacy, thereby conveying the deep friendship and sincere cooperation between the university and the enterprise.
In her speech, Vice President Wang Yi first expressed the heartfelt gratitude of Renmin University of China to the Damao Niu Group for its generous donation. She then reviewed the university’s red heritage and 88-year development journey since the founding of Shanbei Public School in 1937.
Vice President Wang Yi emphasized that, in recent years, while continuing to uphold its traditional strengths in the humanities and social sciences, the university has been vigorously promoting a strategic plan for developing science and engineering disciplines as well as interdisciplinary fields. This fund not only injects strong momentum into the university’s research on polymer materials but also underscores the company’s commitment to deepening its engagement in green technology and supporting national strategies.

Wang Yi stated that the establishment of this polymer materials research fund, as well as the strategic cooperation between the two sides to jointly build a research center for the green development of new materials, represent a crucial step in enabling the university to bridge the gap between “basic research and industrial application.” Renmin University boasts profound expertise in multiple disciplines—including chemistry, ecological environment, and data science—which align closely with Damao Niu’s technological strengths in the field of green new materials. We look forward to leveraging the fund as a bond and the research center as a platform to generate more high-quality outcomes that serve both the “dual-carbon” strategy and the goal of building a powerful nation in new materials, thereby achieving collaborative synergy and mutual benefit between the university and the enterprise.

Gong Xinqi, Vice Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Sciences, introduced the vision for establishing the “Research Center for Green Development of New Materials” and the plan for fund utilization. The center will focus on the core theme of green development, deepen cooperation with top research institutions and universities, and promote cross-platform data resource sharing as well as joint development of intelligent large-scale models. Taking this collaboration as an opportunity, the university will build a solid bridge of industry-university cooperation, accelerate the commercialization of research findings, cultivate more talents in scientific and technological innovation, and jointly contribute to the development of the nation’s new materials industry.
Meanwhile, the center will regularly conduct research and publish reports on the development of green industries, integrating multidisciplinary think-tank resources within the university to provide systematic support for formulating industry policies, achieving breakthroughs in technological innovation, and optimizing the industrial ecosystem.

Wang Yapei, Minister of the Department of Science and Technology Development and Dean of the College of Chemistry and Life Resources, introduced the development plan and fund allocation scheme for the “Xiong’an New Materials Green Manufacturing Research Laboratory.” Renmin University of China will establish research and industrialization platforms in Xiong’an New Area focusing on three key areas: advanced materials, information technology, and future medicine. The donated funds will fully support the creation of a high-level laboratory system, promote collaborative efforts between the university and enterprises to tackle critical challenges in joint key laboratories, and facilitate the co-establishment of postdoctoral workstations, thereby forming a complete innovation chain that integrates theoretical research, scenario-based applications, and industrial implementation.
Zhang Yuanting, General Manager of Damao Niu New Materials Group, shared the company’s development journey in the green new materials sector. Over the past decade, the company has consistently adhered to the principles of green and low-carbon development and has been committed to breaking the foreign technology monopoly.

General Manager Zhang Yuanting used the three keywords—“mission, relay, and symbiosis”—to explain the deep-seated logic behind the collaboration between the two parties.
In terms of mission, Renmin University of China’s goal of building a hub for interdisciplinary sciences resonates perfectly with the vision of Damao Niu to reshape all industries using green materials.
In terms of collaboration, enterprises excel at industrializing and implementing innovations, while universities focus on pioneering original breakthroughs. Funds will support young scholars as they tackle cutting-edge research topics.
In terms of symbiosis, the two parties will jointly establish two major research platforms, jointly cultivate a pool of dual-mentor talent, jointly build a carbon footprint database, and co-create a multi-site innovation alliance, thereby establishing a comprehensive university-enterprise symbiotic system spanning the entire chain—from basic research and pilot-scale amplification to scenario-based applications.
General Manager Zhang Yuanting also proposed four ideas for cooperation: jointly building a green and low-carbon database, promoting AI-driven research and development of new materials, establishing a multi-site collaborative R&D system, and implementing a “dual-mentor” talent-development model. She expressed her hope to work closely with the university to create a symbiotic university-enterprise ecosystem.
The university and the enterprise will use the polymer materials research fund as a link to promote the establishment of the “Renmin University of China New Materials Green Industry Development Research Center” and the development of the “Xiong’an New Materials Green Manufacturing Research Laboratory,” thereby building a collaborative innovation system integrating industry, academia, and research.
Focusing on the construction of the research center, both parties will engage in multiple areas of in-depth collaboration, jointly releasing reports related to green manufacturing, establishing a big-data intelligent analysis system to support materials research and development, and initiating applications for multi-level scientific research platforms. Starting with the provincial key laboratory, they will gradually apply for national key laboratories at the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education. Meanwhile, they plan to jointly apply for relevant science and technology funds early next year, and subsequently aim for the Ministry of Science and Technology’s university-enterprise collaborative fund programs, providing sustained financial support for cutting-edge scientific research.
During the exchange session, both sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on topics including talent development, connecting overseas resources, building industry standards, and applying for key laboratories, reaching a high degree of consensus.
In the future, Damao New Materials Group Co., Ltd. will continue to deepen its collaboration with Renmin University of China, making sustained efforts in cutting-edge research and development of supercritical physical foaming technologies and in empowering the green materials industry. The two sides will jointly establish a postdoctoral research station to inject fresh talent into scientific research, build a green and low-carbon database, and leverage AI technology to optimize material R&D processes, thereby reducing trial-and-error costs, enhancing R&D efficiency, and injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of China’s new materials industry.
